Traineeship Programmes

It is essential for HSBC to position itself as a good employer at University level locally. The aim is to gain visibility and brand HSBC as good employer so as to attract and recruit the brightest students from the campus.

We have selected to work closely with the University of Mauritius, Faculty of Law and Management.

To further reinforce our relationship with this institution, HSBC will participate or initiate activities on campuses (e.g. participate in job fairs, carry out on campus presentations and interviews for final year students to attract the best for our Graduate Programme, Guest Lectures, etc).

Our Traineeship Programme serves as a first opportunity for students to gain understanding about Banking as a sector and HSBC in particular, and helps them evaluate future career opportunities.

The internship program is utilised by the bank to evaluate prospective full time employees for the Bank in general, but also future potential for the Graduate Programme. As the intern prepares to graduate from his course, HSBC has an opportunity to hire a full-time pre screened employee who fits our requirements and is already familiar with HSBC.

We will engage ourselves to take on students on traineeships during the following periods:

the period June/ July (approx 7 weeks).

the period July to December (6 months). This will be more demand led.

the period November/ December (approx 7 weeks) - we may open up this period to students from other local Institutions.

HSBC will liaise directly with the University Programme Coordinators regarding selection of candidates for this traineeship programmes.

AIESEC

We also work closely with AIESEC in Mauritius to take on overseas students on traineeships locally. AIESEC is the world's largest student?run organisation, focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development, AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to be global citizens, to change the world, and to get experience and skills that matter today.
